Top of the World

Posted by **Old Flat Top** on Dec 7, 2017 at 5:56:18 AM:

There are over 200 frozen bodies on the slopes of Mt Everest.
Left where they fell because at that altitude under those conditions nobody can help you or move your body if you're unable to do it yourself. Such a harsh truth but accepted by all those who choose to undertake the journey. I'd like to go but I am not in good enough physical condition to do very well plus I have claustrophobia and severe fear of falling and my presence on the ropes would be a hindrance to others even if I were totally on my own. The question comes down to who should make the climb and who should benefit themself and others by choosing not to.
There is no reason to do such a thing beyond the words of George Mallory who, when asked, replied "because it's there."
