** So we should pull 'To Kill A Mockingbird' from the shelves because it makes some people uncomfortable due the vile epithets used?
**
**
**Could there be a realistic book dealing with that place and time which did not include the n-word?
**
**
**It was supposed to make people uncomfortable, you idiots..
**
**
**Why would any decent human being take comfort in the fate of Tom Robinson?

*Agreed fully. Same here with Animal Farm and 1984.

*I have yet to read Harper's sequel....albeit a written prequel...I read the reviews and they not too good.

Seems that Harper Lee's editor saw a spark in the original draft but felt the strongest parts of the book were the flashbacks to Scout's childhood...He advised her to tell the story through the eyes of Scout as a kid...She took that advice and transfprmed a mediocre work into a magical one...
