Yes! When I head The Beatles (White Album) in mono I was struck by how some of the tracks sound completely different, especially Helter Skelter (no Ringo screaming 'there are blisters on my fingers!") or how Don't Pass Me By sounds light years better in mono.

The best of worlds would have been to have both on each CD - in fact, for Rubber Soul and Help! that was exactly what they did. The 1965 mixes that Martin redid for the '87 first generation CDs, since he was not happy with them.
