***From the Playboy interview:
***"PLAYBOY: "Getting Better."
***LENNON: It is a diary form of writing. All that "I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved" was me. I used to be cruel to my woman, and physically -- any woman. I was a hitter. I couldn't express myself and I hit. I fought men and I hit women. That is why I am always on about peace, you see. It is the most violent people who go for love and peace. Everything's the opposite. But I sincerely believe in love and peace. I am not violent man who has learned not to be violent and regrets his violence. I will have to be a lot older before I can face in public how I treated women as a youngster."
***The ironic thing is that he preached love and non-violence, but he hit Cynthia and cheated on her and Ono. A world-class hypocrite.
**So you don't think people can change their ways or learn from their mistakes? Isn't that exactly what he's saying right here? It's called learning to be a better person, because we're not all perfect.
*Nice concept, and I'm sure he had regrets, but it doesn't erase the fact that, while he sang about All You Need Is Love, he was pretty screwed in his private life, and had a violent past.
*Hitting a woman is just inexcusable - I don't know if by regretting it it can erase the hurt, both physical and emotional.
You should hang out on the Donny Osmond board!
