*****it's such arrogant and anecdotal horse shit to say this storm was over-hyped/fake news/over blown
*****
*****how on earth can any half human caring individual say such a stupid thing?
*****
*****Really?
*****
*****have you not observed the devastation this storm caused?
*****
*****totally destroyed islands - ruined, wiped out?
*****
*****drop your fucking ego for a split second....
*****
*****is your joy that it veered further than expected into Cuba to help downgrade Irma to a category 3 and then went slightly farther west of Florida?
*****
*****they get hit harder so you don't?
*****
*****and all you can say is - fake news/over blown/hyped
*****
*****grow up and educate yourself.

*****christ almighty
*****
*****this storm has caused devastation and life altering changes to thousands on people...and killed others
*****
*****just because your little miniscule/provincial world is ok...

****I agree. I've held off from saying anything because I know I'll be skewered for it. People lost everything. People died. People's lives are in ruins.
****
****But for the ones here who were able to party through it and weren't totally devastated are ok with saying "it's all MSM hype. No big deal."
****
****Reminds me of the right-wing playbook motto "I got mine so screw you." No empathy whatsoever. It's disturbing that this is what we've come to as a country.
****
****On a side note Mexico has withdrawn its pledge of help after our illustrious leader has failed to acknowledge or send a message of support after their tragic earthquake. This is how we look to the rest of the world now. "Screw you. We're 'muricans! 'Murica first!"

***Do you think any of those casualties may have been caused due to inaccurate media reporting?
***
**
**what an incredibly ignorant comment
*
*
*
*It's NOT ignorant at all. It's a perfectly legitimate question
*which you apparently can't honestly answer.
*
*Creating panic and sensationalism is the media's game and you are ignorant if you think that there weren't any accidents or casualties as a result of the panic that ensued over the media's
*erroneous reporting.
*
*Irresponsible journalism is rampant in this country and elsewhere
*MSM outlets for the most part are no better than supermarket tabloids now. It's all about where they can find sensationalism and if they can't find it, they create sensationalism.
*
*Even our soldiers overseas have suffered casualties because
*of irresponsible reporting.

such a myopic ignorant statement

just because your daughter or whomever, with anecdotal commentary says something doesn't make it true. how does living in any region make one an expert in meteorology and projecting hurricane trajectory or intensity? it's ludicrous to suggest that.

the information presented on various media and networks, CNN included, were from various experts providing trajectory and intensity probabilities based on meteorology and physical oceanography as well as research focused on clouds and climate interactions, tropical meteorology, and remote sensing of clouds and precipitation.

Irma was a massive storm - much wider and more intense than previous storms as was witnessed by the destruction it caused. There was a very real probability that it could have hit Florida, and Miami specifically, as a Cat 5 hurricane as was interpreted by the best hurricane forecast models—ECMWF, GFDL, GFS, and UKMET.

and you really think your daughter had better information and data than them?

it was responsible to inform, prepare and evacuate the public based on empirical data and research.
