The Ballad of John and Yoko / Old Brown Shoe

I often say if you want to study how to construct a song you should study the Ballad of John and Yoko. It is simply a masterpiece.

Listen how John and Paul build the song by adding instruments and harmony - it is simply staggering/genius. You'd almost think the tempo was faster as the song progressed but it's all about how John and Paul built the song.

I just love it - no harmony, harmony on the end of a word, on the word and then the phrase to the whole line - beautiful

the song just builds - somewhat like Don't Let Me Down

As for Old Brown Shoe - it is one of my favourites - highly under-rated

Gary Brooker - Old Brown Shoe - Concert for George Harrison

and the song itself by The Twotles
