* With a couple of exceptions, John's list of despised Beatle songs actually could make a pretty good album.:) I know he ended up hating Run For Your Life because of how sinister the subject matter was.

The surprise to me was despising Let It Be, which is a fine song, and better in the acoustic version, although I am partial to the Spectored one, since that is how I grew up listening to it. Also, for the record, Paul had Aretha Franklin in mind when he wrote it - it has a very gospel sound to it which would have fit her very well. Still would have been a monster

A hit, too, no matter who sung it. It is a very good song.

Nos. 5 6 and 7 fit very well on Pepper - I can't imagine it without them, especially 64, which has a music hall feel appropriate to the whole concept of the album, which was Paul's by the way, if you believe his remarks on the Anthology telecast. Good Morning is based on a Kellog's cornflakes commercial, and to me sounds very hip, well in tune to the casual flirting with the opposite sex with was prevalent in 1967. It belongs to it's time, like the whole psychedelic feel of the album, from the technicolor cover art to Within You Without You (not my favorite, but it got me to buy a Ravi Shankar album, which was a very weird thing for a 12 year old boy to do!).
