*******Wow- this site really is a ghost town when Paul getting sick doesn't even elicit any reaction.

*******
*******LONDON (AP) Paul McCartney's spokesman says the former Beatle is on the mend after being treated in a Tokyo hospital for a virus.
*******
*******Thursday's statement from publicist Stuart Bell says McCartney "will make a complete recovery and has been ordered to take a few days' rest."
*******
*******The 71-year-old McCartney has postponed planned shows in Tokyo and Seoul since falling ill last week. His "Out There" world tour is scheduled to resume next month in the United States.

*******Bell said: "Paul has been extremely moved by all the messages and well wishes he has received from fans all over the world."

****** I know what you mean. A few years ago there would be a ton of posts regarding Paul being sick. It sounds like he will make a full recovery. But maybe this is a sign for him to slow down a bit. The day obviously will come but it's really going to suck when both Paul and Ringo pass on and there will be no more Beatles alive. But in a certain sense thanks to the music they'll live on forever.

***** As a Lennon/Beatles fansite, Bagism has really gone downhill. Thankfully it looks like he's going to be ok but if something had happened where Paul had passed away, I wonder if we'd even have more than just a few posts. It seems like only the Letterbox remains active with mostly political rants.
****
****I do think if Paul or Ringo passed on, the board would be swamped. Paul being in the hospital, there has not been press about it- or even much concern, oddly. I partly blame Apple for some of the apathy, which they have done a shitty job keeping the Beatles in the public eye- that 50th anniversary of Beatlemania was a piece of shit and I don't know of any new projects from them. Unfortunately, the older you get, the less people care if you die. I thought Elizabeth Taylor would have gotten a lot more reaction than it did- I'm now wondering if Paul is even going to get any more press than Harrison got when he died- which seems kinda absurd.

*** Yeah you're probably right about people coming back to the board if Paul or Ringo died. There hasn't been a great deal of press regarding Paul's illness but that could be because his PR people put out the message that he's expected to make a full recovery pretty fast. Don't get me wrong I don't want Paul to pass away anytime soon but if he did I hope he'd still get a large amount of press coverage. I mean if I remember correctly Frank Sinatra died in his early 80s and it was still a pretty big news story.

*** Outside of the occasional Paul and Ringo solo projects that might be it as far as Beatle related releases go. If the Let it Be film hasn't gotten a proper DVD/Blu Ray release by now I don't know if it ever will. But every once in a while I hear talk that they still have enough material in the vaults for at least one more Anthology/Rarities type album. I mean we still haven't heard the mythical "Carnival of Light" or supposed 27 minute version of "Helter Skelter". Something tells me the super long "Helter Skelter" wouldn't live up to the hype. It's probably 27 minutes of the Fab Four jamming and singing parts of the song here and there.
***
*** As for the 50th Anniversary of Beatlemania there was basically just the Grammy produced TV special and the reissues of the U.S. albums as far as Apple goes.
**
**They say "Carnival of Light" is terrible, it's just the Beatles shouting out things with a lot of noise in the background. George wouldn't let "Helter Skelter" on Anthology because he said it was "boring." But if Elvis could do a #2 album, I don't see why the Beatles couldn't. There is still alot they could do, the Esher demos are wonderful, I love the "Revolution" one, and "Sour Milk Sea" is great, they should have done that a long time ago when that sort of stuff was popular, with the Unplugged albums that went over so well, it's sort of out of vogue now.

* Beatles 1 actually reentered the Billboard Top 200 thanks to the 50th Anniversary of Beatlemania in the U.S. You would think that would get the people at Apple at least considering the thought of possibly putting together a Beatles 2 made up of the B sides. I know hardcore fans might say what's the point. But there are some music listeners who might like the Beatles but not enough to buy everything yet still be open to a Beatles 2 should it ever be released.
*
* If George called the 27 minute "Helter Skelter" boring then it probably does sound like an endless jam. And I could imagine "Carnival of Light" being something along the lines of the avant garde tracks that John and Yoko would later put out. Which basically would be weird sounds and The Beatles yelling random things.
*
* An official release of the Esher demos is a pretty cool thought. It could be sort of like a Beatles Unplugged album. Even if those type of albums are out of vogue I think it would still get some attention being a Beatles release.

Yeah, that's what they say "helter skelter" is, an endless jam. They say Carnival is not as good as Revolution #9, which we know people hate, and I used to hate, but I actually like it now.

Yeah, Beatles #1 hit the TOP 20 again, that was exciting to see, mostly because it's the #1 album of the decade 2000-2010 so the more it sells, the more it distances itself from the competition. I'm just hoping nothing passes it in the future.
