***I just saw an article that says that Katy Perry is being taken to task for changing the words to Yesterday. What was the crime? A gender change - "Why he had to go...".
***I think this is a big non-issue, seeing as how The Beatles changed gender in cover songs (Please Mr. Postman), and even changed the title of "Devil in His Heart".
***What says you - desecration of a classic, or standard protocol when singing this type of song?
**Slight correction, apparently she sang "I'm not half the girl I used to be..." It still doesn't change my position that gender based lyrics are subject to be changed based on who is singing.*
*no & I thought she did a pretty job with it
I thought her cover of Yesterday was decent. And I do agree that gender based lyrics should be changed if a person of the opposite sex is covering the song.
