*I just saw an article that says that Katy Perry is being taken to task for changing the words to Yesterday. What was the crime? A gender change - "Why he had to go...".
*
*I think this is a big non-issue, seeing as how The Beatles changed gender in cover songs (Please Mr. Postman), and even changed the title of "Devil in His Heart".
*
*What says you - desecration of a classic, or standard protocol when singing this type of song?

Well, here's what I said in playing and producing a female cover of "Yesterday" that was overseen by a huge Paul fan in producer/musician Mike Caro, and approved by another huge fan, in Mike Appel, (Springsteen former producer). So, we hope Sir Paul wouldn't mind if he heard it. That sort of thing has been done so many times to great songs. Wouldn't it be a crime if an opposite sex singer couldn't sing a song just because of the Law of Relativity! LOL Not a first by Perry. I just wish she could have sung it to my arrangement. (Dream on, I know! I always do)!
