*Ringo Starr clarifies Grammy performances with Paul McCartney
*Ringo Starr will be performing at Sunday's Grammy Awards and he will be performing with his former Beatles bandmate Paul McCartney -- just not at the same time.
*While Ringo and Paul are both part of the performance lineup for the Grammys, the drummer tells "Access Hollywood" they won't be sharing the stage at the ceremony.
*However, he says they are teaming up for the Grammy special commemorating the 50th anniversary of The Beatles arrival in the U.S. "The Night That Changed America: A Grammys Salute to The Beatles" will be taped the day after the Grammy Awards, and air on CBS on Sunday, February 9th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern -- the exact same day, date, and time that 50 years ago The Beatles made their debut on "The Ed Sullivan Show."
*Ringo says he still remembers that historic night half a century ago. He tells "Rolling Stone" it was an "Aaaaah!" moment for him. The rock legend explains that they had no idea they were performing before a television viewing audience of 70 million people. He says they were just "so excited" to be in America," because that's where all the music they loved originated.
I'm not thrilled with Paul and Ringo playing Beatles songs at the end of the upcoming Grammy special. It's exactly what George Harrison didn't want and vetoed doing "Let It Be" because John wasn't there. With George gone and no longer having a say, I guess Paul got what he wanted- he's finally the "Beatles."
