**** I managed to get a copy of the Deluxe version of Paul's New album today. I've only listened to it once so far and my first impression is that it is a good McCartney album with a few of the tracks being excellent. There are a few acoustic numbers but most of the songs have a bit of an experimental type sound to them. To some degree the album is sort of like a more commercial sounding Fireman album. The deluxe album has 15 tracks with one not being listed on the back. While the main version has 12. I'd recommend the deluxe since I really enjoyed the bonus tracks.
**** I know there is always that one faction of Beatles fans who always say Paul's lost it just about every time the man comes out with a new album. But in my opinion Paul has actually done some of his most interesting post Beatle work during the latter part of his career. And I know some will bring up Kisses on the Bottom but that was mainly a covers album and also not in the pop/rock category.
***I agree with you, really admire Paul for sticking to his guns. Chaos, Electric Arguments and now this really rate highly in terms of Paul's solo works. I've only heard New a couple of times, but love the acoustic numbers Early Days and Hosanna, Queenie Eye and Appreciate are also gems. Hope it does well!!
**Where can I hear the new album? Is it streaming anywhere?
* To the best of my knowledge the album isn't streaming anywhere. I just got lucky in that an independent music store near me usually tends to put new albums out a few days before they are supposed to be on sale. Since it's the second single from the album, I think you might be able to hear the song "Queenie Eye" on You Tube. Plus there are a few videos of Paul performing some of the new songs live. Although in my opinion the recorded versions on the album sound better.
* I personally think most McCartney fans should enjoy the album New. Even at 71, Paul is not afraid to experiment a bit but at the same time that doesn't prevent the songs from still being catchy as most Paul songs are. Out of 15 tracks there were about two songs I didn't care for while the others all ranged from good to excellent in my opinion.
Also on a somewhat related note I heard Paul on the Howard Stern Show this past week. And I must say that Paul generally seems like a down to Earth nice guy. I mean sure you're entitled to have somewhat of an Ego after being part of what many consider to be the greatest band of all time, but generally Paul doesn't seem to be that into himself. In one interview I heard him say that he's basically fan friendly unless he's on an outing with his family. But you can't blame the guy for not wanting to sign a hundred autographs if he's spending the day with his young daughter or his other kids.
