Actually, low income people in those states did vote for Obama at a higher rate than others, but the electoral votes in those states still went to Romney. That means two things; one, that those people are screwed because no one in congress is looking out for their interests, and two, that since Obama's electoral votes came from states with a low proportion of people that didn't have a federal tax liability, his support cut across income lines.
