********the Feds could allocate the money that was in the budget to run that particular park for the 1st year & give it to the host state - after that it would be up to the state to decide how & if it should be funded with any proceeds coming from tourism going back to the state

*******I've seen what happens when the state takes over control of previously federal government controlled land or buildings. They turn it into business districts or build more condos and try to turn the land or buildings into money making deals. Greed takes over particularly in states like Illinois. Areas formerly controlled by the federal government or under the auspices of the army corps of engineers have become wastelands, unkempt and totally useless pieces of land waiting for someone to come along and turn it into something else. When my late wife and I went camping we always sought out land or places controlled by the federal government instead of places ran by the state. They were in much better shape and better taken care of than those places controlled by the state.
*******
*******Just my opinion, but I think what is controlled by the federal government should remain controlled by the federal government wrt national parks and museums.

******I agree. I also like to think that the parks are truly national not state resources. The Grand Canyon should belong to the whole country, not just Arizona...for instance.

**From what I've gathered is it's just a list of protected areas that are basically world wide in scope and all listed as protected natural resources. It doesn't indicate ANYTHING that the UN actually controls any of them. Each individual country where the protected areas are located that are on the list are solely responsible. The UN only maintains a list.

**
**Unquote.
**
**In other words it's just a monitoring tool keeping an eye on the world's natural resources. If you look at the actual list it lists natural resources in alot of other countries too. It doesn't mean they (the UN) control or own any of it. All the UN is is a keeper of the list because it entails natural resources of many different countries. (who btw are charter members of the UN).
**
**Protecting our world wide natural resources is important for all nations.
**After all, it's not just the US that has to work to keep these natural resources in check and protected, it's a world wide endeavor that every country must recognize the importance of in saving these natural resources. The UN is merely an umbrella that covers the nations and natural resources list so each country can keep tabs on what they/others are doing as well in order to better preserve these lands and resources.

**It sounds like someone is trying to turn the idea of world ecology into something sinister. LOL

Collapse? What new cities?
You mean the ones they are building in a far off distant land far across the sea miles away from anyway over the hills as the crow barked 39 peoble lived miles away from anywhere on a little island on a distant land?
