*****they have all those things everywhere you go in this country
*****and yes it is the same as NY according to the NY transplants here - down here, they even bring in the water and ingredients directly from NY
*****
*****VA is not much less expensive and not much safer than NY
*****
*****good luck

****that's where you are wrong - Virginia is infinitely cheaper to live in then NY
****
****the house I bought was over $235,000 less then the same size house I was going to downsize to in NY
****the taxes are $800 a year - the taxes on the house I was going to downsize to in NY were $8000 a year
****gas is cheaper
****pretty much everything else I priced out with the exception of food was also significantly cheaper then NY
****
****Regarding my miss list:
****their pizza sucks
****their bagels suck
****I drove the entire length of Route 13 (the main route) on the Delmarva Peninsula up & into Maryland & did not see a single car wash & I was looking as the car was filthy
****I tried two Italian restaurants that the locals suggested & recommended as being excellent - they sucked. Well to be fair - none of them were from NY or NJ. I cook better Italian.
****
****When talking to several transplanted New Yorkers & Jersey locals they had the same thing - pizza, bagels & Italian suck. They also lamented the lack of a good car wash. I was also told to learn to live without a dry cleaner.

****Get out of the Bunker much these days?

*** Explain to me how someone can screw up a freaking bagel, for crying out loud..

**
**don't use NY water for one thing - there is only one decent bagel place near my mother in Florida that does it right - trucks in NY water in 55 gallon drums several times a week
**
**the second way is to bake them instead of "kettling" them - this involves boiling rather then baking - crisps the outside leaving the inside soft & moist..........
**
**I see I'm going to have to send you a dozen or so at some point.

* And now if you would be kind enough to enlighten someone whose only trip to NYC was 40 years ago, what is so damn special about NY water? *

it's all the pollution - adds a certain "zest" to things..
