***
***Bob Dylan-The Bootleg Series Volume 10: Another Self- Portrait
***
***
***Highlights include Dylan's cover of Eric Andersen's 'Thirsty Boots'. 'Spanish Is The Loving Tongue' , 'Only a Hobo', and the alternate take of 'I Threw It All Away'... The ultimate highlight for me is the exquisite 'Pretty Saro', which features a Dylan vocal you wouldn't believe if you hadn't heard it with your own ears...
***Recommended especially for anyone who thought Dylan never could sing worth a damn...

*** Also:
***
***
*** Andwella's Dream-Love At Poetry
***
***
*** This 1969 release would probably appeal to fans of the Small Faces' 'Ogden's Nut Gone Flake' album, Blossom Toes, and early Traffic...
***
***
***
***Robert Pollard-Honey Locust Honky Tonk
***
***
***Bob's new one might just be his best since 'From A Compound Eye' which was 2004, I believe...
***
***
***
***Robert Pollard- Jack Sells The Cow
***
***
***His next to last release is very good but doesn't quite come to
***
***the heights of the followup...
***
***
***
***
***The Circus Devils- The Harold Pig Memorial
***
***
***Probably the most active of Robert Pollard's side projects... This is definitely one of their more accessible albums...
***
***
***
***Oakley Hall- Second Guessing
***
***
***Love this band and their blend of Fairport Convention folkiness, prime Neil Young , vintage Southern rock, bluegrass tinges here and there........ I suppose they're defunct now as they haven't released anything in about five years or so...
***
***
***Various Artists- True Soul Volume 2
***
***
***Even more killer 60s/early 70s soul and funk workouts from the tiny but mighty 'True Soul' label...
***
***
***
***Kashmere Stage Band- Texas Soul Thunder 1968-1974
***
***
*** Instrumental grooves galore in this 2-CD package...
***
***
***
***Lightnin' Hopkins- Shinin' Moon
***
***
***
***Some of his most low down gritty work.... It kicks hard...
**
**Is that the new Dylan one? Worth buying?

*
* IMO, absolutely...Disc 1 alone makes it worth the price as far as I'm concerned... Actually, 'Pretty Saro' and 'Only A Hobo' are enough to justify the bread...
*
*
* I enjoyed Volume 10 even more than I thought I would...

Is it stuff from the early 70s? I think my favorite Dylan is early-mid 70s.
