**Well I really wasn't trying to be funny... although I can appreciate why you might think so. We all benefit from taxation with regard to infrastructure and services (fire, EMS, police) but I'm just curious because there are people who expect these benefits even though they believe taxation is necessary to pay for them.

Bullcrap is it? The 16th amendment was ratified February 3, 1913.
Later that same year the Federal Reserve was installed completely replacing the existing monetary system.
In simplest terms, the power to create and control money(as stipulated in the constitution)was removed from the government itself and entrusted to private banks so that they could directly control the economy of the U.S. If the U.S. treasury issued currency without creating debt(interest) there would be no need for taxation of income whatsoever. Think about it.
