*Syria has said it accepts the Russian proposal, though details are sketchy.
*
*"We held a very fruitful round of talks with [Russian] Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov yesterday [Monday], and he proposed an initiative relating to chemical weapons. And in the evening, we agreed to the Russian initiative," Russian news agency Interfax quoted Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, who is in Moscow, as saying.
*
*This would "remove the grounds for American aggression", he said.

*hmmmm, except Assad said they didn't have chemical weapons - so how's that supposed to work.....oh i get it - pigs can fly etc. etc.
I'm skeptical about this whole deal. The Russians phrasing us as the "aggressor" seems to lend a tone of sympathy for Syria.
We must use caution to ensure this isn't just some ploy. Assad said he doesn't have chemical weapons and there are accounts/witnesses stating that it wasn't Assad in the first place, but it will be interesting to see what unfolds here.
In the meantime all we have to do at this point is keep Obama's finger off the trigger for the moment.
