****Obama was actually ready to order missile attacks without Congressional approval (and he still believes he can do it without approval of anyone). Thank God Denis McDonough took Obama for a walk outside and brought him back to reality that he needs to seek Congressional approval before he arbitrarily pushes a button that could lead us into yet another war.
****
****It seems at least the head of Obama's security adviser team has some common sense left. Of course the rest of his security team
****raised hell when they learned Obama had changed his mind, but they (and Obama) needed to be reminded that they are not a military junta. This is still a democracy and they do have to follow Constitutional guidelines. Again, one wonders how Obama
****every got a Nobel Peace Prize for one who was so anxious to pull the trigger.
****
****
****Well done Mr. McDonough for making Obama and his team of minions realize what they are really doing.

***Why is it that when he does something you can agree with, it's because of his adviser or someone else. But, when he does something you don't agree with, it's 100% his decision and he bears the full responsibility???
***
***Look at your own link: "Obama's National Security Council had believed since last weekend that requiring a vote was not even on the table and that “consultation” in the form of congressional briefings and behind-the-scenes conversation was all that would be needed before a strike."
***
***Read "Obama's National Security Council"....NOT Obama.
***
***He is president and it is ultimately a decision he has to make. Why don't you give some actual credit to Obama for the decision? A decision that goes against the recommendation of national security advisers.
***
***Does it pain you that much to actually say, 'I agree with Obama here'?
**
**
**
** How much praise do you believe he's entitled to for writing a check with his mouth that his ass can't cash?...We've heard all this "Congress? I don't need no steenkin' Congress1" bravado from him .... soon after the Brits hand Cameron'S
** butt to him on a platter, he wants to find a way to get his own backside off the griddle... The American public was overwhelmingly against Syrian intervention....He shouldn't have needed any further counseling on the matter...
**
**
**How much are you going to praise someone for seeing a pile of crap and choosing not to step in it?
**
**
** "Hey Carl, you did a fantastic job of avoiding that pile there. Bravo!"
*
*Where did I say anyone should be praised? I clearly stated give some CREDIT.
*
*I'll ask you the same since obviously Winston won't be able to answer...why is it that if Obama avoids the pile of shit, you'll credit an adviser for that, but if he follows what his advisers tell him, it's 100% his fault for stepping in the shit?
*
*You can't selectively choose to look at the people around the man. They're always there advising him...whether you agree with his final decision or not, he is acting on what is provided him by his advisers. In this instance he chose to act against what the majority of his people have advised, and yet his one adviser gets the credit in Winston's (and obviously your) book?? Really? Why can't you acknowledge Obama did something you agree with? I'm not saying anything about praising him, just a simple acknowledgement.
*
*When Bush was in office I always said that all the blame didn't fall on him (that had me labeled as a Bush supporter by some here)...and that's exactly what I've been saying regarding Obama as well (and you've labeled me an Obama supporter). This is a perfect illustration that it doesn't matter what the president does, he can't do anything right in certain people's eyes.

I believe there are some purely self-serving motive of this situation with Obama...

As a senator, he said that the President does not have the authority to do what he has talked of doing...

And has he said that he will abide by whatever decision is reached by Congress?

The timing of the decision to let Congress run with the ball is highly suspect, imo...

I could give him more credit if he had said something similar to Cameron's remark about respecting the wishes of the people..
