**Obama was actually ready to order missile attacks without Congressional approval (and he still believes he can do it without approval of anyone). Thank God Denis McDonough took Obama for a walk outside and brought him back to reality that he needs to seek Congressional approval before he arbitrarily pushes a button that could lead us into yet another war.
**
**It seems at least the head of Obama's security adviser team has some common sense left. Of course the rest of his security team
**raised hell when they learned Obama had changed his mind, but they (and Obama) needed to be reminded that they are not a military junta. This is still a democracy and they do have to follow Constitutional guidelines. Again, one wonders how Obama
**every got a Nobel Peace Prize for one who was so anxious to pull the trigger.
**
**
**Well done Mr. McDonough for making Obama and his team of minions realize what they are really doing.

**Here

*
*Why is it that when he does something you can agree with, it's because of his adviser or someone else. But, when he does something you don't agree with, it's 100% his decision and he bears the full responsibility???
*
*Look at your own link: "Obama's National Security Council had believed since last weekend that requiring a vote was not even on the table and that “consultation” in the form of congressional briefings and behind-the-scenes conversation was all that would be needed before a strike."
*
*Read "Obama's National Security Council"....NOT Obama.
*
*He is president and it is ultimately a decision he has to make. Why don't you give some actual credit to Obama for the decision? A decision that goes against the recommendation of national security advisers.
*
*Does it pain you that much to actually say, 'I agree with Obama here'?

It's a good thing Mr McDonough is the only level headed one in the bunch. Had it not been for his little garden walk and talk with Obama the missiles would have already been flying. All the
other people on that panel thought they didn't need permission either.. Wrong. Kinda tells you what they think they are capable of.

If anyone deserves praise at this point it's McDonough not Obama. Without his advice Obama would've circumvented all constitutional rules and would've pissed off the entire international community by launching missiles before the international community had even conferred on the matter. Now it appears the Arab League has joined in the condemnation of the Syria's chemical use and now that Obama's finger was kept from the trigger they and the UN are more likely to come together on this. I've said before in other threads that he needs to get
the support of the international community before taking any action. And now that he's not pushing a button in haste, it appears it may actually happen now. Nobody wants a hasty decision maker.
