****On the one hand, I'm proud of it. On the other, I'm sick of it.

*** What I heard brought to mind some of R. Stevie Moore's 'out there' offerings... I can take those in limited quantities if they're balanced with the quirky melodic rock and pop he also brings to the table...

***Admittedly, this is based on a sampling of each track...

*** Congratulations though. . I'm sure you put a lot of time and effort into it.

**Thanks. Funny, I thought of it AS quirky pop with only a couple of really out there moments. I guess the line between inside and outside is different for everyone. When I was doing this, the arrangements kept going between, roughly, Television/Beefheart and Beatles/Brian Wilson and every time I thought it would lean toward one, it went toward the other. (That said, the one time I consciously tried to sound like someone else, it was a coda where I went for a Mamas and Papas sound. Oh, and there are a couple of Rev. Gary guitar licks, albeit in a completely non-blues setting.)

**One thing I'm proud of that might put people off is that while these generally have basic song forms, the arrangements aren't predictable. I tried not to have anything where a person could listen to a verse or two and know what the rest of the sound sounded like.

* Yes, when I say 'quirky', I'm thinking of R. Stevie's poppier stuff or a lot of Todd Rundgren's offerings... They could have unexpected twists and turns....

*
*Would we both agree that Jandek would be 'out there' ?

*You planning to submit this to any radio stations such as WFMU? Are you familiar with www.weirdsville.com? I've come across some things there that strike me as being in a similar vein to the stuff you're doing...

*I've collaborated with one artist featured there ..I guess the tracks I had a part in on weren't quite Weirdsville enough though.. :)

Yeah, Jandek would be out there. My non-overdubbed stuff, just one guitar and one vocal, has actually been compared to Jandek's more song based material. I had never heard Jandek at the time and would have preferred Syd Barrett, but he meant it as a compliment, so I guess I should be happy with it. When I posted a link to it on a Jandek group, though, no one liked it because it was too conventional sounding.

That's a good idea about submitting it to FMU. I hadn't thought about it, but I do know a DJ there. I should send him a link. Never heard of weirdsville, though. I'll give it a listen.

BTW, if you can stand listening to the whole thing, it ends with a musical punchline you might appreciate.
