*******Our oldest chihuahua and I play-fight often.. She'll roll over on her back and I'll lightly grab her front or back paws and she'll play-bite me. Each time I stop, she gives me the look and that look captures her spirit...It says "What are you gonna do now, daddy?" and that face is full of love, trust, joy, anticipation, and loyalty. This is the look that makes me wonder how anyone could harm such a treasure.. Our little girl has given us at least ten lifetimes worth of love and devotion in the seven plus years since we first saw her in a cage at a flea market...Her eyes gave a very distinct message, namely "You know I don't belong in this cage. I belong with you."

******The same is felt here for our Yorkie. She was my wife's favorite and now she's Dad's favorite. Can't go anywhere in the house without her tailing me. She just had a small tumor removed a couple of weeks ago and she's doing fine now. Even though the tumor was deemed to be a low to medium grade Cancer tumor, I felt it was justified to remove it and give her a chance at a longer life and particularly considering all the joy and happiness she has brought to me and my late wife. Even though a couple of my late wife's relatives thought it was a waste of money..but of course they don't understand the bond that exists between a person and a dog. They've never had that.
******For most dogs and their masters, it's a pure unequivocal love.
******And you're right...we're suckers for 'em.

****I had my cat, Floyd (named for the band), for 22 years. I picked him up from the pound. My mother took me there to replace another cat that had been killed by coyotes, and he was the third cat I looked at that day. He snuggled up on me and it was an instant bond. He was known as Floyd Dog because even my friends that hated cats loved him because of his personality. He was a ragdoll breed and the best cat I've ever known.

****I'm actually tearing up right now thinking about him. I haven't had another pet since him.

****It is the look and the love that you receive unconditionally from an animal. I have to wonder about our world when you can look into the eyes of a stupid creature and see such compassion, love and trust. You can look into the eyes of so many people and see nothing but darkness. I wonder if despite our intelligence, we are truly the weaker species.

***Unconditional love is what draws so many people to pets, but many of them don't deserve the privilege, sadly, as they don't return the love.

yes my 2 white "ponies", as closely resembled in the above post, are boatloads of fun and then some, (you meant them, right?) as is my Cooper S, even more than my BMW, which i swore was the best driving car - but since BMW took over Cooper they have made it another 'drivers' car - yeah, i love it...as do the pups....Followup Messages:
