***Tnose are just some of my picks.

*** So what shows belong on a '50 Greatest TV Shows Of All Time' list as far as you're consumed?
**
**Completely and totally subjective. And most of your list are shows that were decades before me.
**
**I do remember watching reruns of MASH with dad and that has its special place. It definitely ranks as a top TV show.
**
**I remember watching the Incredible Hulk and running around my house growling like I was The Hulk. It was a cheesy show and don't know where it ranks, but it holds a place in my heart.
**
**I remember sneaking out of my room to watch Dukes of Hazard. A horrible TV show in retrospect, but I loved it as a kid because I couldn't really watch it.
**
**As far as what I watch now...'Breaking Bad' is must see TV. 'The Bridge' seems to have great prospect.
**
**Considering sitcoms, I loved Cheers and still enjoy the syndication when I catch it. Seinfeld is a show that you can watch repeatedly and still be entertained. It's surprising that its debut was 20 years ago now. Even more surprising, the shows you're listing are about 30 years prior.
**
**So, curmudgeon (and I'm actually using this in affable tone here), what do you watch that's current?

*You're sounding like one of those "Nothing much of artistic consequence was created before I was born" types, young misanthrope..... I consider the good stuff timeless.. A lot of the music and films I enjoy were made before I was born. I don't erect such time barriers.
*

Not at all. It's just the fact that TV shows that were decades before me aren't as readily available and I'm not going to have the same connection to them simply because they weren't running in prime time. There a few from your list that I've seen and like...Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, Monty Python. I've seen others in that list, but wouldn't list them as GOAT. As I said, it's completely subjective. Personally, I never liked Andy Griffith or The Honeymooners. However, I'm not going to tell you they don't belong in your GOAT list.

My music preference ranges from stuff that was made before I was born to some current offerings. I try to keep an open ear and will listen to anything that has a good sound.

*I don't watch because we haven't had cable television for quite a while now.. We get tv shows on Hulu or Netflix...Sometimes we take a chance on a DVD set featuring a unfamiliar show which looks promising...
*
*
*A current show which we got hooked on before we ditched cable was
*'The Killing' on AMC. We also watched quite a few episodes of 'The Following' starring Kevin Bacon.. We picked up a DVD set of 'American Horror Story, Season One' which we both enjoyed...

*As for 'Breaking Bad', I thought we had a discussion where you said your sympathy for the main character had pretty much run out...What made you stay with it then?

It had...but that doesn't change the fact that's it a well-written and well-acted show. It has dynamic characters and that's where the sympathy was lost, but the interest remained. Walter White has gone through a significant transformation (and turned into a pretty despicable character), but at his core he still does what he does for his family. The show is wrapping up this season and I'm curious to see how it closes.
