The 'It's Never Enough' Segment
Posted by **murray** on Aug 18, 2013 at 8:19:10 AM:
I believe gay couples should have the rights and privileges of straight couples... I'm not about to sign up with the Fred Phelps sickos and I believe they're a wretched bunch... But as with many other activist groups, there is that segment I call the "It's Never Enough' segment...I'm not going to actively work to thwart your goals.. Shouldn't that be enough?.. Why does this segment think that straights should also have to protest with the same vigor which they do?.. I think they often serve to hold their fellow gays back with their 'Always In your face" style...
One example of this segment would be the ones who are raking Jodie Foster over the coals because she did not do her big reveal ten or twenty years ago. "It could have done so much good" they say... What she owes you is more important that what she owes herself and those closest to her?... Julie Foster may not have been ready at that time. Why should she not have the freedom to decide fro herself when to share the most personal aspects of her life with the entire world?
That said, have a big problem is in the political realm...If there are gay politicians supporting a clearly anti-gay agenda, that is a tough one. It's hard not to think that they should be exposed. The question is how it is done and if the information used to out this politician is completely true and accurate.
