ok - so I went out to sit down on the deck again last night - opened the backdoor, turned on the light & there they were - just hanging out on the deck - I saw them - they spotted me - all of us froze in our positions

5 raccoons
3 youngsters & mama & papa

mama & papa happened to be two of the biggest damn raccoons I've ever seen - like the size of a medium dog

we all stayed frozen in position for what seemed 2 hours - it was not unlike many a scene that I recall seeing in cartoons as a kid - people, animals & objects frozen in their tracks....

figuring two hours or so is too long a time to stay like that - I then stomped my foot & yelled

they just looked at me

ok - let's try this again

stomping twice, yelling & then jumping off the stairs onto the deck - that got 'em going - all except the biggest parent

that one was showing teeth & began growling - the same growl I heard the other day

being out numbered 5 to 1 & without a weapon - I turned around and jumped back UP the stairs & ran inside..................

I did give him or her the finger once safely back inside & behind the glass door however.
