* A year and a day after Elvis first recorded at Sun Studios, his first single was released.. 'That's Alright, Mama/ Blue Moon Of Kentucky' had already made its mark.. An advance copy had been given to popular Memphis deejay Dewey Phillips on July 7... The feedback was phenomenal...The story goes that he Dewey spun that sucker fifteen times on the 7th...

*So by the time it actually hit the shelves 60 years ago today, there were some eager hands waiting to take it home and crank that bad boy up...

*And the rocket known as Elvis Presley took off for a planet called Legend...

I have a personal friend who lives here in St Louis, that I have had the privilege to know and worked with before, his name is Lonnell Hudson and he was actually present in Sun Studios the day Elvis came in the first time to cut a record for his mother. (My Happiness). It was also Elvis that later gave Lonnell $1500.00 to start his own Video Production Company which he still runs to this day. Lonnell also had also done video for the documentary on Elvis called "This Is Elvis".

It's fascinating to know someone who actually knew Elvis back in the day when he was before he was.
