*** Sort of. Seemed like double jeopardy to me. Though his later actions and almost, but not quite confessions confirmed his guilt, I believe the Civil Suit in violation of the law.

**However, it wasn't. Double jeopardy refers to criminal actions. By definition, a civil suit isn't criminal. A person can do something that, while not criminal, can still make that person liable for civil penalties.

* For the record, I think the charge of manslaughter more appropriate for this case, and believe that if the prosecution would have pursued this charge, it would have resulted in conviction.
