*******ALL Americans and those who live here need to understand what the Constitution is all about. Particularly in a time where it's being manipulated and torn apart by an administration bent on turning this country into something other than what our forefathers wanted. We are literally seeing our American way of life being changed and degenerated bit by bit until comes a day when we can longer be what we've been for over 200 years.
*******A nation of freedom and democracy..if we let these things continue we'll be no better off than most third world countries.
*******Remember back in 2008 when Obama made a statement that "this country needs to be brought down a notch or two"?
*******Obama wants to destroy the U.S.A. as we know it. Obama thinks his left-wing ideas will bring a rebirth (it's not his fault since most liberals think that) but when one looks deeply into his "cure" for what he thinks ails America,..it's a cure that will kill the patient.
*******
******
******What exactly is the 'U.S.A. as we know it'? How exactly is Obama destroying that?
******
******How exactly do you think that the US could even come close to being a third world country?
******
******I'd bet that you spent 4th of July in your RV with your boat on some nice lake around St Louis. Tell me in what third world country someone like you would be able to spend their golden years in a motorized palace with a boat.

*****Is there something wrong with trying to remain a free country?
*****Is there something wrong with living in a country where opportunities should still abound? Where all the rights given to us by the Constitution aren't questioned or challenged on a daily basis?
*****Is there something wrong with wanting to have the things in life we all desire without a government standing over us trying to limit our abilities and opportunities?
*****Until you have actually traveled elsewhere and see how the other half lives, don't take your own country for granted and just assume everything is doing fine. It's NOT!
*****Most intelligent people can see there are changes being made to this country and it's not for the good. It's turning bit by bit into a tyranny forcing the people to do things THEIR way so they can continue to profit for themselves. The middle class of this country are in jeopardy and you sit there and pretend you don't see anything? Look at the things we've had to give up so far...do you want a list? OPEN your eyes! Anyone can look around and see alot of things we've lost or had to give up in the past few years. And you sit there and wonder what it is?
*****You must not get out much.
*****
*****This administration has done nothing but drag our economy down and forced things into a socialistic environment.
*****One only needs to see what America has had to give up in the last decade to see what's going on. The things they are trying to force down our throats. Our forefathers are rolling in their graves.
*****These assholes we call politicians have squandered away so much money and resources that alot of vital things in this country are becoming extinct. The middle class is becoming extinct. Everything is "peachy" in your own little world as long as you walk around with blinders on isn't it.
*****
*****And as far as your comment about what I may have, I worked for and earned everything I have and maybe one day you will get there too. For one who claims he can make trips to Ireland or go on an African safari, I don't see what your point is in criticizing what I may have or how I spent a holiday.
*****
*****
****
****You and your little cowmingo friend completely missed the point. You're trying to claim that because of Obama, we're turning into a third world country. In third world countries, your motor home would be considered a palace and you wouldn't have the opportunity to just spend a holiday weekend on the lake. This is a motor home in the third world. And you wouldn't be fishing for recreation, you'd be doing it for survival. I didn't criticize anything, I was simply making the point that you're once again making an unfounded, absurd statement.
****
****Back to Obama ruining the country...you must be excited, you'll now be able to carry your gun with you everywhere. I thought that Obama was coming into your home and taking your guns from you??? But somehow Illinois passed the concealed carry law....odd.
****
****And yes, give me that list of what I've given up. There is not one thing in my life that I've given up since the evil tyrant Obama stepped into office. I work for myself. I live as I choose, where I choose. I travel when and where I want. I eat what I want. I drink what I want. I read what I want. I watch what I want...etc etc. The only thing that really limits what I choose to do is what I have in my bank account. Since I'm obviously just not as intelligent as you, provide me your list of everything that's been taken from me.
****
****BTW, I have never once said that everything is peachy. I know that there are many, many things that are wrong in our country and the world. I am just so fucking sick of assholes like you, spiggy and hippie that think that just because someone doesn't dwell in the doom and gloom, chicken little, the world is ending paranoia, that we're blind to everything. It's nice to see you're using the "OPEN your eyes!" line...following the playbook perfectly. Yup, I must have blinders on because I don't believe that we're living in fascism or tyranny. Here's the reality, I revel in the positive things in the world and take advantage of every opportunity I have.

***I don't know how old you really are, but you obviously haven't grown up in the world that some of us have. A world where we didn't have to fight to maintain our basic freedoms and rights on a daily basis and sit and watch everything degraded or eliminated because of self serving politicians who don't give a fuck about the welfare of the people. It's an older generation that I belong to that can clearly see the changes that have been made in the last decade are not good ones. It's a damn shame there is a whole younger generation (like yours) who obviously don't have a clue as to what is happening because you simply weren't around back then to make a contrast. I think you need to get off your butt and do some homework yourself on the matter
***instead of sitting there acting pompous and arrogant and think you know it all.

***2) Over 8 million people lost their homes to foreclosure

**And when you were cr's age I'm sure the "older generation" was bitching about the eroding of the country as well... Black people being allowed to eat with whites, black people being treated as equals and allowed to attend the same schools, 'kids' with no clue as to how the world works protesting the war (how dare they), burning flags and draft cards, doing drugs. Being lazy "hippes" and not wanting to work for a living, just sit around in communes and smoke dope all day. No values. It's been going on for ages, one generation not understanding the other.
**
**While your list includes things that are currently wrong and not right in this country (you cant lay 100% of the blame on the current administration, gotta go back to Bush and even Clinton to an extent, that is not to say this administration is blame free) there is not one item in there that would equate to anything actually being lost as far as rights and freedoms go. Are times difficult, sure. Just as I'm sure times were difficult in the 70s with the oil shortage, in the 80s with reaganomics, crack and aids, just like in the 90s with the race riots... There's always going to be something shitty going on, always going to be a time when things can be better. But if you only focus on the negative and let it rule your life you're going to become a bitter, angry person.
**
**Things suck right now, the only real solution is to work together and pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and work towards a brighter future. But people don't want to do that. They just want to sit at their computer and bitch about how bad things are and refuse to work with the "other side" because they just "don't get it" or their "eyes aren't open". I guess it's easier to sit back in the cool air conditioned comfort of a home with running water and electricity and bitch about everything that is wrong with the country than it is to sit back and be grateful that you don't have to lug a clay pot 2 miles so you can boil some dirty river water so you can have a drink. The problems we have are first world problems. Not third world problems.
**
**Heard a comedian once talk about how people think we are becoming a third world country because Obama is in office. He joked that we aren't a third world country, just slipping down to the ranks of Switzerland. Not a powerhouse but not doing too bad. And at the end of the day, Switzerland isn't a bad place to be.

*True, the things I listed above are current problems, but 10 years ago, alot of that wasn't a problem as it is now.
*You did note of course that I specified the last decade, which Obama has only been in the past 4 years or so..
*And I agree on the point that we need to work together as a unit
*to bring about a brighter future for our children and their children but it's not going to happen as long as we have these self serving politicians who don't have a clue about anything rule the roost. I made an earlier comment that up to 80% of the people in this country don't even make themselves aware of what's going on. Is it just complacency or they simply don't care? That's why these politicians get away with what they do..there isn't enough opposition to stop them. Sure people are going to sit and bitch about things, but if they didn't bitch about things then they become just as complacent as the other percentage that don't even care. Awareness is what I am talking about...being aware of what they are doing and the more people becoming aware and when there are enough people aware of what's wrong then perhaps we'll have enough to change things one day.
*BTW, I never said we are a third world country...I said we are going to become no better than one if we don't start making these politicians start putting things back on the right path again.
*Obama made a comment back in 2008 that "this country needs to be brought down a notch or two"...well he's getting his way because there's nobody there that's going to stop it unless we start educating and making people aware of what's really going on.

I had included a bit that I erased in one of my previous replies because I felt I was going off on a tangent too much but I'll post it here. I think the main problem today is not that people don't care any less than they did year ago, I think it's that they are too inundated with shit that it becomes bothersome. 20 years ago you had three main sources of information: tv, radio and newspapers. Now, every crackpot with a hairbrained idea now has a voice. While that is good that more people have a voice, it is also a double edged sword. You now have people who have access to a shit ton of information in the form of stats and reports and studies and articles that half the time aren't even accurate. People then start passing it around as gospel. Then you have the other group who counter those inaccuracies. Your average citizen is peppered from both sides until they are so worn down they just don't give a fuck anymore.

It used to be this would happen once every 4 years. The elections would roll around and people who didn't give a shit or didn't have time for politics would get involved and voice their opinions, goto the polls, see who won and then continue on with their everyday lives. But towards the end people mainly just wanted the shit to be over with so they could quit hearing about how one side is better than the other. But now we are hit with it everyday via Facebook, Twitter, TV, emails, etc... it becomes a pain.

You know how many friends on facebook I block almost on a monthly basis just because of their political and religious crap that they post? And it's not just the content of what they post, it's the fact that they will post 8 different things in a row everyday. I have to start sifting through their shit to read other peoples stuff. All because they want to copy and paste things instead of forming their own opinion. Good thing that doesn't happen here... But the point is, I'm not alone in this thinking. People just get so tired of hearing about it nonstop. Everything is so doom and gloom as well. "Oh mah Gaed, if dat Obama is elected President, we's all gonna fuckin die cos he feckin hates white people and christians and he's gunna kill our grammas!!" Come on. Going into the election I knew that if Romney won, it wouldn't be the end of the world, I would be disappointed but my life wouldn't change that drastically. I'd still go about living my life and enjoying it the best that I can. But that's how bad it's gotten. Both sides want you to believe that if the other person wins, we are gonna die and it'll be the end of this country as we know it!

And I don't think it's that people don't care about politics as a whole. In fact, more people are actively involved in politics now than ever thanks to social media and our instant access to news. But I think at the same time people are so inundated with 'facts' and stats and reports and studies and findings that it becomes a mountain of information. Some people look at that and think "well, I could spend the next 7 hours watching some youtube video on some guy yammer on about the Constitution, or I can go out, grab some drinks with friends and spend the afternoon at the lake enjoying myself". Just because they don't want to spend 7 hours of their life watching a video on the Constitution doesn't mean they don't care about the Constitution, it just means their priorities lie in living in the moment and enjoying their lives. Because when you're dying and looking back on life you're not going to wish you had learned more about the Constitution, you're going to be glad of the time you spent with family and friends and actually lived your life.

Also, I want to know where Obama has talked about taking this country down a notch or two? Only thing I can find is from an anti-Obama book where the author talks about Obama trying to take this country down a notch or two and then a speech Obama gave in 2008 where he said "I want to take it down a notch" in reference to the speech he was giving. In his words: make it "a little more detailed, a little longer with not as many applause lines".
