Never had much of a problem with ours. Though their life span was usually shorter than their laying production due to the possums, coyotes, foxes, snakes, rats and even the odd neighborhood cat or dog... And it's not cheap (pun intended). I would imagine if you have a number of chickens, the cost of feed alone would outweigh any benefits to buying eggs at the store. Then of course there are the unwanted pests you will attract by having the chickens, the eggs and the feed around. If you live in the country and have the space to have enough chickens to make it worth the effort, cool. Just seems like living in a subdivision is the wrong environment in so many ways.Followup Messages:
