********I take it you refuse to answer my question below?
*******
*******
*******The post was about freedom of speech so your question is lame.
*******Just answering for me.
*******But I've got a question I'd like to ask you.
*******Recently a bunch of atheists tried to get a monument of the ten commandments removed from public ground claiming it violated freedom of religion but got ruled against because of freedom of speech. So, what I'm wondering is since atheists believe in nothing why weren't they satisfied with the "nothing" that was already there instead of erecting a bench that says "ATHEIST!"
*******on it? What does that say? They're guilty of the thing they protest against. It's weird isn't it?
*******
******
******Freedom of speech isn't completely free. Just as you can't yell fire in a crowded room when there isn't one, just as you can't post whatever you like webboards (ones that are truly moderated) and just as you can't wear whatever you feel like at school. Students are to follow the rules set forth by the school and should follow those rules or meet the consequences.
******
******As for the ten commandments, seeing as the religion aspect was already there, it is hardly "nothing" as you say. Had nothing actually been there, then there would have been nothing to complain about.
******
******I'm sure you are actually asking a legitimate question but it reeks of deflection for your pal Jacqueline. She demands answers from others, so why then, when she is posed a question she gets a pass and doesn't have to answer? Question everything!... Just don't question me. Guess that's rule #2 after do as I say not as I do.
*****
*****Actually, I wanted to answer your question without you thinking I'm playing HJ's white knight...but it's ok, I guess you're going to think that. I just don't have as big a problem with the wide divergence of beliefs and differences of understandings as maybe you do unless it becomes provocative to the point of needless violence. Not directing that at you solely but it's kind of my underlying theme.

****I find it strange that anyone would want a bench that says "atheist", if that story is true. But why do you say there was nothing there if there was an existing monument to the ten commandments?
****
****
***In regards to atheists their monument might be "nothingness" and my assertion is that since their's a whole lot more nothingness than ten commandment monuments...

**I asked one of my grandsons, (Jack, 5 at the time), "what is in this empty glass"? he actually stopped him saying the usual answer, and looked around,,,then to my stunned ears, he said Air! He then put his mouth over the rim and breathed in, and then said,,,See?!

**A five year can know there is something where nothing seems to be! Hey Flat! You're not smarter than a Five Year Old! LOL LOL

**Just busting em, since we go WAY back. LOL

*I thought religious folk believed that God is everywhere? If that's true, then God is in nothingness, so if we have nothing, then everyone should be happy.
"Everything" would come out of talking about "everywhere".
The term nothing only refers to that which is just not seen, smelled, touched, etc. Doesn't tell the WHOLE story though. It's just a word used through the absence of one sense or another. Like air not able to be seen in a glass that some would say "Nothing is in there yet". Even if the glass was placed in a vacuum, neutrinos would of course FILL the glass and keep it filled with ever-moving neutrinos coming from all the stars all the time.
"The Neutrino Bath", as one of my theory papers describes. We all and everything there is, can;t help but be filled with them!
Ouch?,,,I felt one! LOL (Where "itches" come from). Ahhh,,,that feels better! hahaha!Followup Messages:
