So, what I'm wondering is since atheists believe in nothing why weren't they satisfied with the "nothing" that was already there instead of erecting a bench that says "ATHEIST!"

**Freedom of speech isn't completely free. Just as you can't yell fire in a crowded room when there isn't one, just as you can't post whatever you like webboards (ones that are truly moderated) and just as you can't wear whatever you feel like at school. Students are to follow the rules set forth by the school and should follow those rules or meet the consequences.

**As for the ten commandments, seeing as the religion aspect was already there, it is hardly "nothing" as you say. Had nothing actually been there, then there would have been nothing to complain about.

She demands answers from others, so why then, when she is posed a question she gets a pass and doesn't have to answer? Question everything!... Just don't question me. *Actually, I wanted to answer your question without you thinking I'm playing HJ's white knight...but it's ok, I guess you're going to think that. I just don't have as big a problem with the wide divergence of beliefs and differences of understandings as maybe you do unless it becomes provocative to the point of needless violence. Not directing that at you solely but it's kind of my underlying theme.

I find it strange that anyone would want a bench that says "atheist", if that story is true. But why do you say there was nothing there if there was an existing monument to the ten commandments?
