Gargantuan

Posted by **The Duke** on Jul 1, 2013 at 8:56:33 PM:

Mavric roars into the sullen night.
The hungry fires swag on the swelling deep.

I travelled to the desert, to the wasted land.
The journey was long and odious.
Even before I reached the land of fire and ice I found
The desert is not in remote corners of the globe.
The deaert was squeezed into the Greyhound seat beside me.
The desert is in the heart of my brother.

I came and saw all was a desolation, and a despair.
All was hopelessness and waste
Where the sun beat down without mercy on the burning barren sand
And the dead tree gave no shelter
And the cricket no relief.
And bones were scattered and dry and bare.

And the bones were glad to be scattered.
They had done little good for each other,
United in the quiet of the desert.

And God said
Prophesy to wind, to the wind only,
For only the wind will listen

Because of the goodness of this lady
And because of her loveliness ...

The lady is withdrawn
in a white gown.
To contemplation.
White light wrapped about her, folded.

Who walked between the yew and the yew?
The ancient sister motioned but made no sound.
As I am forgotten, and would be forgotten,
So I would forget.
Thus devoted,
Concentrated in purpose.

Only I spread myself over the desolation,
Over the lifeless desert,
And brougbt forth only a little life under the cool shadow of my wings.
And the dry creek filled
The fruit tree blossomed, and the world flourished.

Look! Look! Of all that you see,
I am mother, father, brother, and son.
I am the master.

(Ever have days lik that?)
