*******Truth is Truth - even if no one believes it.

*******A Lie is a Lie - even if everyone believes it.
******
******Not sure how you feel about it but I'd say the fact they "target" anyone is bad enough but the fact they target any and all political factions regardless lefty or righty which might be contrary to their own agenda is enough to shut these guys down.
******You'll have to excuse me. I grew up in a world where there was a difference between right and wrong and bad was bad and good was good.
******I get the impression(and I might be wrong) that you seem to think their targeting of lefties as well as righties cancels out claims of wrongdoing. You might want to actually state a position here. Not that too many ever do mind you. Just wondering.

*****
*****It's not wrongdoing if they should be investigated. Since the status in question involved the group not having political activities be their primary focus, why would investigating whether or not political activities are their primary focus be wrong?
*****
****I believe the charge leveled was that "extra" scrutiny was being given to conservative teaparty groups. That there was a lot more "investigation" of them then the mere flagging(and passing) of liberal groups.
****
***
***Yes, the charge was leveled. However, anyone can make any charge he wants. It has been been made very clear that the charge was untrue.
***
***Regardless, that wasn't the point you made. You didn't say that conservative tea party groups were treated unfairly in comparison to liberal groups. You said that it was unfair treatment even if both liberal and conservative groups were treated the same way. That's actually the opposite of what you're saying here.
***
**The objection I'm raising is using the IRS as a political tool to put pressure on groups for whatever reason the gov has in mind.
**The overall implication being that the IRS is a police force(like the S.S.)
**
*
*Unfortunately, the facts don't bear you out. The only group that had their status revoked was one that supported the Democratic party.
*
Unfortunately I've no idea what you think you mean.
I said clearly that it was irrelevant to my argument whether it was righties or lefties.
*Can you resolve the contradiction between what you said first-that it didn't matter if both conservative and liberal groups were investigated because it's still wrong-and what you said after that-that conservative groups got extra scrutiny?
I said
T"he fact they "target" anyone is bad enough but the fact they target any and all political factions regardless lefty or righty which might be contrary to their own agenda is enough to shut these guys down."
I think you missed the part about groups being contrary to the current admins agenda.
*And could you explain why you think that the IRS looking for tax fraud is wrong?
*
Sure can. I posted a whole new thread on that very topic.
Look for it.
And why you think that "targeting" political groups is bad when those groups are supposed to be apolitical for the status they're claiming?
Same reasons.
