*** Best solo Lennon song...

*** Yup! Tell us why!

**
** Quite honestly, I can't pin it down to a single song...At this moment in time, I would be torn between "Instant Karma', 'Love', and 'Woman'...
**
**
**I love the feel of 'Instant Karma' and John's vocal is a stunner...
**
**
**I am taken by the ultimate simplicity of 'Love' ..It always takes me to a good place...
**
**
**'Woman' I can relate to now more than I ever could when the song was first released because now I know first hand what that kind of love is and how I am also "forever in your debt"...

*Instant Karma - a deceptively brilliant song that it seems only Lennon can deliver. i have NEVER heard a decent cover of this gem. When i try it, it sounds like a bubble gum pop song, it has this simple bounce to it but as you noted Lennon delivers a stunning vocal performance and that is what ties the song together and raises it to another stratosphere in my opinion. he has the gritty sound, snarling almost...
I think it has some of the "recorded in a phone booth" flavor of "Quarter To Three" by Gary U.S. Bonds... That actually adds to the intensity level on the record...It just couldn't be the same if it were done with squeaky clean production...Followup Messages:
