**I like peppers just enough for good flavor anymore. Have done my share of hot peppers in the past although. 5 would be my number.

**Had a friend who used to be into hot horseradish. Tried a little pea sized sample of a jar of a certain kind he had one time. It would literally make your cheeks flush and your forehead moist with just that little bit...lol

*My wife and I had a nose-opening experience when we first sampled wasabi... No one warned us that a little dab'll do ya...

speaking of wasabi

We Were?
Shut Up!

Interesting tale (or at least I think so)..

About 5 years or so ago I was about 80 miles offshore in the Hudson Canyon tuna & swordfish fishing. We had already caught 4 or 5 nice size (60 pound plus) yellowfin tuna. We were going to overnight out there & was getting settled in for the evening.

We could see two other boats about 1/2 mile away also at anchor.

Over the radio we heard:
"Does anyone have any wasabi we can borrow or buy?"

This told me that they had had a successful day as well. It also told me they were about to chow down on some of their catch.

The other boat replied that - yes - they did. They offered to bring it over.

Started watching this on the binoculars.

The second boat launches a smaller craft - maybe 18 feet long. Which I thought was rather "ballsy" being as we were at least 80 miles from the nearest coastline, in 900 + feet of water & at the time were experiencing 4 to 6 foot swells.

As the small boat approaches the craft requesting the wasabi - I notice one of the guys is up in the bow with a towel/rag draped over his arm & the jar of wasabi on a plate the he is holding aloft.

I started cracking up.
It looked just like the Grey Poupon commercial...........

BTW - you haven't had sushi until you've had it right out of the water.
Let me tell you.

Our breakfast the following morning was tuna & eggs...
