Sometime in NYC, is, to me, perhaps the nadir of John's solo career, in spite of some glorious redemptive moments,
The concept for the album almost dated the material before it was released. The topical subject matter made it like the newspaper it emulates, an instant discard.
It's saving graces were "Woman is the Nigger of the World, and New York City. The first has an almost hypnotic ambiance, with the psychological underlying anger and self loathing that places this rocker, in my opinion among his great artistic achievements. New York City is just plain good Rock'n'Roll, nuff said.
