*******Spire raised to top of One World Trade Center - "Freedom Tower"

*******An emotional and momentous occasion.

******I take my hat off to the people that worked on it. *

*****I was there & watched the whole thing yesterday - very emotional. Very quiet (for NYC) until it reached the top. Then thunderous applause & car horns going off.

***Great video; wish it was longer.*

**I was just reading a related article & never knew/or it never occurred to me:
**
**When crews raise the final sections of spire to the top of One World Trade Center, the structure will help the skyscraper soar 1,776 feet into the sky, a patriotic reference to the year the Declaration of Independence was adopted by Congress. The building currently tops out at 1,368 feet above the lobby level – the height of the original World Trade Center’s North Tower.
**
**It was truly an emotional viewing. I lost two colleagues when the Towers came down & two Firemen friends that were 1st Responders to illnesses related to the attack. There was also a 6 hour period during that day that I thought I lost my brother.

*Sorry for your loss. Glad your brother was ok.
+1
Must have been horrific not knowing about your brother. Mercifully, nearly all people below the impact did escape.
Although not directly affected by 9/11 in that way, it did leave me with a fear of heights.
