Only with any luck.
Conquering armies always destroy those who tried to suck up to them first. It figures if they would betray their own then they would not be anymore loyal to them as a matter of course. The ones who fought them bravely they will consider worthy of being persuaded to follow them. It's pretty much a lose/lose so I suggest fighting to the death and hopefully the other guys'.

just another wonderful anecdote in the never ending pages of the human chronicle.
