*********The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — a legislation championed by President Barack Obama — mandates that a minimum set of health insurance benefits be extended to all Americans, regardless of any preexisting conditions, forcing insurers to cover even the sickest applicants. Because of these new requirements, insurers are expecting costs to skyrocket, and as a result, many are preparing to raise premiums to cover these increased expenses.

********It was explained to me by my good friend/family doctor, as to WHY I was turned down 2 years ago for an MRI on my torn MCL. He said ever since Obama care talk, many such requests for test of all kinds have been suddenly turned down, in PREPARATION for "all" they will HAVE to cover when forced to.
*******
*******I was denied an MRI for a shoulder injury I had 11 years ago, was that because of Obama? I was also only approved for 12 sessions of physical therapy even though I wasn't even close to fully rehabbed by session number 12..was that because of Obama?
*******
*******There have always been limitations imposed by healthcare providers and it has absolutely nothing to do with Obamacare, it has everything to do with quarterly P/L statements.
******
****** Not at all. It's just because you're a loser, man! L-O-S-E-R.!!
****** In 2007 I was homeless, jobless, and on crutches with a torn midial miniscus. No insurance ... needed an MRI and an operation.
****** You know what I did? I got an MRI and an operation. How? I refused to take no for an answer.
****** So quit your pathetic little snivelling, get off your pity pot, and get the job done.
****** Fuck the bullshit!
****** The only one to blame for your failure is you. You want to be a lilly livered weak little crybaby, taking it out your impotence on others as you hide in your little hole.
****** If you want something, get it! Take responsibility for yourself, hustle till you get it done! No one's fault but yours if you don't.
****** Don't wait for some one else to do it for you.
******Does that sound harsh? Good!
****** Weaklings disgust me with their pathetic pitiful whimpering...

****I think he has a good point. Several years ago I was in a car accident and suffered two broken fingers. When I went to the insurance company to file my claim they low balled me with a take it or leave it attitude. I told them I was not going to accept a settlement from them in that case but that I was going to go see the doctor once a week, have x-rays and physical exam until I felt confident healing was complete and send them the bills. The guy said "Ok. How much do you want?" I immediately upped my original figure I was wanting and got every penny. He cut me the check right then and there.

**It was the other guys insurance company so I assume it was medical liability for accident coverage on the vehicle. They paid another claim on the totaled car and valuable contents so I assume two different divisions of the same company. Don't know really.
*
*That's all completely different than medical insurance and the fact that they do try to limit what is paid out. It is all about the P/L and if they can avoid costs, they will. You're in healthcare, right? You know that insurance companies try to pay out as little as possible in order to maximize profits, so I don't really understand why you're trying to defend this assclown's position. Especially citing an example that has nothing to do with health insurance, but rather liability insurance.

I meant to illustrate "assert your rights" not meant as a critique or examination of insurance claims or liabilities.
Truth is, in the years I worked in healthcare I saw a lot of people get top medical care pro bono. I'm certain my wages reflected that and I can't say I'm happy about it in every case but in a lot of the ones I saw I was. Many cases where the hospital I was working at provided care with either no charge or a very minimum. It's just that it can't be that way and wouldn't be that way if money wasn't the endgame. Or maybe if people could be satisfied with life itself.
