***It bears out what I've been saying..you can't legislate anything to prevent violence to any significant degree. Those who are intent upon committing violence will just find another means.
***This and other recent events involving stabbings are examples of that. The answer lies in treating those who are prone to violent behavior.. not in trying to take away a weapon.

**"Prone to violent behavior"? How often have we heard "he was just a normal guy, never bothered anyone" right after someone commits mass murder? You can't always identify those who are "prone" until it's too late. And you can't lock up someone just because they're prone.

**It's like the stalking laws. How long did people have to live in fear because the authorities couldn't do anything until the stalker actually harmed them?

*That's true you can't always predict who is prone to violence but at least it would be a step in the right direction to get those that have proven track records of it or have displayed violent tendencies the counseling they need and find means to deter it. There is no easy answer here but banning weapons is NOT one of those answers.

"the counseling they need" -- even if they are identified -- takes a lot of money, Winston. Many are not even in favor of LIFE-SAVING medical treatments, let alone "counseling." Where do you propose the money for that counseling comes from? You are one who is against universal health care, is that correct? Counseling falls low on the list of the needy when it comes to health care.
Besides, even if the counseling is paid for and available, that person would have to be compliant with treatments and they often are not. How about if we just make sure the average citizen can't obtain a semi-automatic assault weapon and let the deer hunters have their rifles?Followup Messages:
