*at home?

*Our family dog died a little over two years ago after spending 17 years with us. Loved that animal.
*
*This past weekend on a whim, as I was driving past, I stopped at a place called Little Shelter & nearly came home with a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel. Didn't know how he & Tripod (my daughter's 3 legged cat) would get along.
*
*Took a lot to walk away from that dog.
*
*So.
*Any of you own rescued pets & how did it work out for you?

My best friend Mamie lived on a cross roads in the country where everyone dropped off their unwanted dogs and cats. Mamie adopted every one of them.Naturally, Maimie being ederly, their health care fell on me. Many of the dogs were sick, presumably their rightful owners preferred abandonment rather than paying the high price of veterinarian care. Others were pregnant. Lots and lots of dogs!
I used to walk them down the road in the mornings, and the school bus would pass us as we strolled. Me surrounded by a pack of 10 to 15 dogs. No leashes - we were in the country after all.
One afternoon I'm in line at the grocery store, and a young child and his family were in front of me. The child kept staring at me quizzically.
Suddenly a light came on in his eyes, and he blurted out, "Oh! I know who you are, you're the Dog Man! "
Dog Man! Great thing to be remembered as to a generation of children. They're all adults now. God, I'm old!
