***Our family dog died a little over two years ago after spending 17 years with us. Loved that animal.
***
***This past weekend on a whim, as I was driving past, I stopped at a place called Little Shelter & nearly came home with a 6 year old Cocker Spaniel. Didn't know how he & Tripod (my daughter's 3 legged cat) would get along.
***
***Took a lot to walk away from that dog.
***
***So.
***Any of you own rescued pets & how did it work out for you?

**We had a little fox terrier mix that we got from an animal shelter in Virginia that had been found abandoned and we gave her a home and she lived for almost 16 years. And when we lost her it was almost like losing a child. So we eventually got another little dog (Yorkie) that was being handed from one person to another. We gave her a permanent home here. And that little dog has been a comfort to me since my wife's passing as
**it was her favorite pet too.
**
**They aren't just pets..they become a member of the family.
**I have 4 dogs (1 Chow, 2 miniature pomeranians and the Yorkie)
**They are kids wrapped in dogs bodies LOL

**I agree that pets become like family members! We have two shelter cats and one cat my husband found as an abandoned kitten. I don't get it when people pay for fancy breeds when the shelters are overflowing with cats and dogs.

Our chihuahuas chose us... The oldest one we got from a puppy mill operation at a flea market...She got us with her eyes...Then we held her and she licked our noses.. Done Deal...She had to come home with us... The youngest chi belonged to one of my wife's patients...The owner said he was very standoffish...Only to see him jump on my wife's lap and fall fast asleep.... She was quite happy he came to live at our house...
We have a beagle too...He lived in a rural area and was known to be eating out of trash cans...He ran out in front of my our car...Fortunately, he only had minor scrapes... No longer does he have to rely on trash cans...Followup Messages:
