A lot of the nurses and doctors who work in the UK National Health Service are 'foreign'. ie. the salary is attractive to them but not to a lot of UK born people.

An aside: when I visited a health centre in the US (problems with my wisdom teeth) the nurse was a Bosnian, she acted like we were long lost relatives as we were both from Europe. Bless her.
