*********** Does noise inhibit your concentration when you're reading? I csn manage some soft jazz once in awhile.... maybe a bit of classical..But far more often than not, I have to have quiet or else I wind up reading the same sentence over and over...

***********Which brings up to the garden area my wife and I have been working on. .We decided to take an area of the backyard to place outdoor furniture, outdoor bar, hanging baskets, garden flags, yard ornaments, wind chimes, and the like...The first time we decided to take our books out there and read, it wasn't five minutes later when a guy on the street in back of us decided to bring us up to date on the modern country hit parade... Help me Lord...A few doors down, it's a rap freak...The house next door features mariachi...

***********I wonder if there are industrial strength earplugs with a garden motif?

**********I actually cannot read unless it's quiet. Read a book, that is. Reading magazines, newspapers is ok with background noise (for me anyway).

**********In the apartment block I live in if you have your windows open and play music the sound really carries. I wonder if my neighbours think I'm an ageing hippy, playing Beatles, Hendrix etc.

*********where in the UK do you actually live anywho?

*********Don't have to be specific - north, south, southeast, central Britain would be fine

********South West. I tend to think it's about where the "south west" begins. ie. it would take a long time to get to the south west corner of England from here.
********

*******kinda south of Bath I assume..........

******a bit north east of Bath. We're informally classified as "West Country" (and local people do ha

*****so you're nit far from the South Wales border - spent spme time around there

****yeah I'm thinking of heading over to Wales for a few days this year, haven't spent much time there at all (ie. passed through it to get the ferry to Ireland).

***
***may I make a suggestion?
***
***Caerphilly - beautiful town - great thrift shop (if it's still there) & a really nice Pub on the banks of the castle moat...
***
***spent an entire afternoon walking around

**Sounds good, the sort of place I'd like. I'd also like to visit Portmeirion but that's further up north, might have to do a circuit of Wales (have done that with Ireland).

* Portmeirion.. AKA The Village, right?

yes, The Prisoner. I liked that program although I only saw it all recently, it looks like one of those odd/eccentric places I would like to visit.
